“Okay, maybe it wasn’t okay” - Booklet
A record of things I have seen, heard, and been told while growing up in Japan. Many of these experiences left me with little traces of confusion in my mind. Relocating to a different country has provided me with opportunities to reassess my Japanese identity.
I incorporated some factual examples of how men are also subjected to societal pressures and expectations from others, and how women also discriminate against women. These were from my experiences, where I encountered difficulties justifying only one side's perspectives and experiences. "Okay, maybe it wasn't okay" is not one-sided, acknowledging that it is not always a straightforward issue of right or wrong.
Even if societal influences have shaped certain aspects of who I am, it doesn’t mean I have to narrow my options to simply rebelling against these ideas. Accepting diversity and embracing individual well-being should be the primary focus, rather than engaging in negation and rejection.
